Criw Cymraeg

The Welsh language and culture play an important role in our school life.

Our Criw Cymraeg is a pupil voice group set up to encourage and promote the use of Welsh around our school.

At the beginning of each year members of classes in KS2 are chosen to be part of our ‘Criw Cymraeg’

Bronze Award Welsh Language Charter/Gwobr Efydd Siarter Iaith.

We are working on the ERW Cymraeg Campus Bronze Award- there are lots of targets to work  towards to show Llangynidr is promoting the Welsh language and culture throughout our school.

The Criw meet regularly, we put forward ideas to promote Welsh around the school and encourage staff and pupils to use everyday Welsh. We help in our Welsh Assemblies, welcoming everyone and leading our Welsh prayer. As part of celebrating St David’s Day every year we run a Welshcake stall for families and friends to enjoy speaking as much Welsh as we can. We have a Wal Graffiti in our foyer to encourage pupils to add to. We celebrate Siaradwr yr Wythnos with a certificate given during our Friday SMART assembly to the child who has tried their best to improve their use of Welsh. We encourage each class to take their Dragon mascot on special visits and school trips. We are proud to promote and organise our busy Eisteddfod each year where Art an craft entries go forward to compete in the National Urdd Eisteddfod as well as supporting our classmates competing in Urdd Swimming Galas.

Why not download the Welsh apps we have on school ipads…Cwy, Llyfau bach Magi Ann, Campau Cosmig.

If you want to find out a Welsh word or check a spelling try, Ap Geiraduron.
